MILEWSKI, Nadja
Nadja' research project focuses on the family formation patterns of the second generation, and will look at the role of culture and religion in union formation and fertility choices.

Examining the question whether second generation immigrants follow the suggested family-formation patterns from their parents' home country, those of the host country, or whether they create a mix of elements of both, she will follow two objectives:
  • explore the patterns of one or two family transitions with a quantitative analysis,
  • and explore the meanings and motivations for the respective behavioural patterns using qualitative data.
Building on previous work on immigrants from Turkey and Morocco in Germany, she will look at the related second generation in Germany, and possibly compare them with the same groups in the Netherlands.
